O Captain! My Captain!
Tamasin Swoap is a Southside Virginian native that is devoted to the enrichment and welfare of her community. Growing up in the area, she developed a great love for the lakes and all the outdoor activities this unique and beautiful area offers. After graduating from Park View High School in 2011, she pursued a degree in History and Middle Eastern & Islamic Studies from Emory & Henry College graduating in 2015 with Honors. Tamasin then returned home to follow in the footsteps of both her parents and older sister by teaching at Park View High School. Tamasin pursued post-graduate work in Special Education K-12 during her first three years of teaching. While there, she further enriched the lives of the students through her role as an Assistant Coach for both Cross Country and the Girl’s Soccer teams. After a short sabbatical, Tamasin returned to teaching the youth of Mecklenburg County. She has a love of learning and wants to impart the joy of lifelong education to the children with whom she teaches. Some things she looks forward to incorporating into LifeBoat includes the international pen pal program with some of her educator friends from Australia and England, class garden, and applicable life skills.
